This update brings a new feature category to PokeNav: Badges!
v1.8.0 has been deployed to all servers, which allows communities to create and award unique badges to their users. I hope this helps to empower local discord communities to hold engaging contests and events.
1.8.0
Raid Coordination
Screenshot Recognition Improvements
Screenshot recognition should be noticeably improved, especially EX Raid Passes. This time, the focus has been on time detection which should be improved on EX raid screenshot passes. This will also pave the way for some cool updates next week.
Its still a work in progress, so please report any misrecognitions on clear screenshots to the PokeNav discord.
Screenshot Thumbnail Embeds
If you scan a raid egg, that egg will be embedded as the thumbnail on the raid announcement until you set a raid boss.
Screenshot Emoji Responses
The bot now responds to screenshots using emojis to give status of how it handled the image:
- đź‘Ť
- Image scanned, raid will start in a moment.
- đź‘Ž
- Image scanned, but it wasn’t a vald raid screenshot. Raid will not start.
- đź‘Ś
- Image was determined to not be a raid screenshot prior to scanning. It was skipped without counting towards your quota.
- âś‹
- Cannot scan the image, you are out of quota.
Custom Badges
You can now create and award custom badges to your community members. Currently, badges are tied to active emoji in your server. To create a badge,
upload an emoji you want to serve as your badge and run the $create-badge
command. Moderators can read more about how to manage emoji in the official trainer’s guide documentation.
You can update badges that exist, toggle them off, grant to members or revoke them. The only limit to the number of badges you have are the number of emoji in your server.
Badges appear in your trainer profile and when you use the new $badge
command. Trainers can read about the badge commands here.
Trainer Profiles
Auto Team Role Assignment
You can now enable your server to automatically assign a member a team role if they joined your discord server from another PokeNav enabled server. This saves them the trouble of setting their team when joining.
This setting is disabled by default as it could be used to circumvent discords built in verification limits. Make sure you have a good spam prevention bot on your server.
Additional details can be found here
Patreon in Quota
$quota
now displays clearer quota guidelines and how to upgrade through Patreon.
Badges in Trainer Profile
Trainer profile now shows recent badges and badge count.
Shout Outs
Thank you to icycatelf, for the badge images provided in the cover photo. We personally use some of those free to use badges on my local Discord server, but they can also make great custom badges for a small fee. You can find the originals and details here.
Thanks to DownWithTTP for pushing me to get the badges done. He has a YouTube channel, podcast and writes for GamePress. You should check out his twitter for links to all his content.
Thanks to all the communities in the beta program for their feedback and support, we’ve nearly tripled in the past week mostly on word of mouth!
Future Updates and Support
PokeNav’s development and ongoing operational cost are funded entirely by its users. If you want to support PokeNav, you can pledge to be a Patron here! Becoming a patron gets you increased screenshot quotas and a special PokeNav badge available only to contributors. As well as cool stuff in the future.
We’ve got great things planned. To keep up to date, follow PokeNavBot on Twitter!
